All About Me Project

ALL ABOUT ME PROJECT - IMPORTANT

For our citizenship and identity unit, we will be focusing on learning about how we are all unique, with different family origins and traditions. Your child will be given the opportunity to share this information with the class by completing a project at home. Your child may create a poster, diorama, book, PowerPoint presentation, video, or even bring artifacts from home as a way to share this information about themselves and their family. Use your imagination with the format and have fun as a family creating this presentation. Some ideas to include are:

Home languageCountries of origin before family immigrated to Canada, if not IndigenousSpecial traditions and celebrationsCultural clothingSpecial songsActivities enjoyed as a familyFamily membersPlease feel free to use these ideas as a starting point and adapt them as you’d like.

Please send a family photo to school (one that you don't mind us keeping for a while).

Continue practicing these family songs below. The children really enjoy them :)

In math, we designed and traced a shape animal, with all it body parts, and all parts connected.

We listened to a lovely story called, "My Heart Fills with Happiness"  and then held a sharing circle, sharing something that brings us happiness.

Please see previous blog posts regarding the Early Years' Evaluation (EYE) results that went home this week, as well as journals that went home (for those with Friday conferences).

Reminders

Ask your child about Sound Kreations and the new dance moves that they are learning!

Please ensure that you have read the email about the AHS declared outbreak at Dalhousie.  If you have any questions, please email dalhousie@cbe.ab.ca.

Thank you to those families who have paid their fees for swimming, Sound Kreations or field trips.  Fees can be paid through your MyCBE account.  Prompt payment is appreciated as any unpaid fees impacts the programming that the school can offer.

Our virtual book fair starts today and can be accessed through this link.  Students will have an in-person opportunity to purchase books as well either during the day on November 22, 23, 24 or in the evening from 5-8 on November 24.

A reminder that conferences are being held next week on November 24 & 25.  Please see the separate email that was sent for information on how to book.

As a reminder around traffic safety, there is no parking or entering the school parking lot at any time. Please also be respectful and mindful of the parking, no stopping and Hug & Go zones around the school.   The Hug & Go Zone is meant for a vehicle to be there for under a minute.  Your child should be able to exit the vehicle independently and have their backpack with them in order to use this area.  The Hug & Go Zone is not meant as a waiting zone for families to pick up their child after school by remaining in their vehicle.    We continue to receive complaints from our neighbors regarding families who park in front of their garage is blocking access as well as reports of near misses. Safety over convenience it is not just a phraseIt needs to be a mindset and continued action. The Calgary Parking Authority as well as the Calgary Police Service will be coming out for education and enforcement. Dalhousie School has no ability or authority to have any in fractions and accompanying fines waived.  Thank you for collectively being conscious about traffic safety for our students, your children and our families, you.
